ACA Registered Counsellor • Secure Telehealth Australia-Wide • No Referral Required

Preparing for a long-term commitment brings up important conversations.
Not just about the wedding, the future, or the logistics of life together - but about how you will actually function as a couple over time.
How you communicate.
How you navigate difference.
How you make decisions.
How you stay connected when life becomes demanding.
Many couples assume these things will “work themselves out” naturally over time.
The Long Game is for couples who want to be intentional about these foundations before entering marriage or deeper long-term commitment.
Who this is for
The Long Game is designed for couples who are:
-
Engaged or preparing for marriage or long-term commitment
-
Wanting to strengthen communication before major life transitions
-
Seeking clarity around expectations, roles, and values
-
Wanting to build strong relational foundations early
-
Interested in understanding each other more deeply before committing long-term
-
Open to structured conversations about important aspects of future life together
This is proactive relationship work - not problem-solving.
What is The Long Game?
The Long Game is a structured counselling program designed to help couples build clarity and alignment in preparation for long-term commitment.
It focuses on:
-
Communication styles and emotional expression
-
Values, expectations, and life direction alignment
-
Conflict navigation and repair processes
-
Decision-making and relational roles
-
Emotional safety and connection-building skills
-
Understanding how each partner approaches commitment and partnership
This is not about identifying problems in the relationship.
It is about building shared understanding and intentional foundations.
Key conversations we explore:
Across the program, couples are supported to explore areas such as:
-
How we communicate under stress
-
What emotional support looks like for each of us
-
How we approach disagreement and repair
-
Expectations around family, work, and future planning
-
Money, lifestyle, and long-term goals
-
Boundaries, friendships, and external influences
-
Intimacy, connection, and emotional closeness over time
These conversations are often avoided or assumed - but they are central to long-term relational stability.
What changes:
Couples often leave The Long Game with:
-
Greater clarity about shared direction
-
More confidence entering marriage or commitment
-
Stronger communication skills around important topics
-
Reduced uncertainty about expectations and roles
-
A deeper understanding of each other’s emotional world
-
A stronger sense of “we are on the same team”
The goal is not perfection.
It is alignment, clarity, and intentional partnership.
The intent of The Long Game
The Long Game is not designed for relationships in crisis, high conflict, or emotional distress.
It is for couples who are stable - but want to be intentional.
It is for couples who recognise that strong relationships are not accidental, but built through ongoing clarity, communication, and shared understanding.
Couples counselling is not suitable if you are experiencing Domestic & Family Violence.
